Facilities

Krabbesholm Højskole consists of approx. 15 buildings situated in a large park area. The oldest building dates back to 1565 and the most recent to 2015. Every building is designed by different architects and has a distinct character.

THE MAIN BUILDING AND THE HALF-TIMBERED WINGS

The main building at Krabbesholm was constructed in 1565 by Magdalene Banner who named the manor after her late husband Ivar Krabbe. Today the main building houses Riddersalen – the great hall where morning assembly takes place every day – the library, the administration office, the headmaster’s office, and a meeting room. On both sides of the main building are the half-timbered wings. In the eastern wing you will find the kitchen and the dining hall.

MAIN COURSE BUILDINGS

Most teaching at Krabbesholm Højskole is in the classrooms dedicated to each main course and in the workshops. In the classrooms every student has his/her own desk, locker, and – for some departments - computer. The buildings that house these classrooms were designed by MOS Architects in 2012 and by Tham & Videgård in 2015. The teaching environment is very modern.

WORKSHOPS

Some of the teaching also takes place in the workshops. It is often here that a project is materialized. The teachers will assist and support you in various techniques and machines at the workshops.

GALLERY

The gallery at Krabbesholm Højskole is called Four Boxes and is designed by the Japanese Architects Atelier Bow Wow. The gallery opened in 2008. Different exhibitions take place throughout the year with both internal and external artists, designers, and architects from all over the world. Find more information about this under: Exhibitions.

KUNSTHAL

KBH Kunsthal consists of 5 glass cases. They were previously situated at Vesterbrogade in Copenhagen and were then moved to Krabbesholm in 2007. It is an exhibition space for younger and experimental artists.

PAKHUSET

Pakhuset is the first building you see on the right hand upon arrival at Krabbesholm. The house is for the use of every student – always. Inside are a student kitchen, billiard table, a music room, a TV, and a large couch. Opposite the student house are a football field, a basket field, a table tennis, a beach volley field, and a fireside.
