Object Makers
Krabbesholm Højskole

Object Makers is the first part og a big project, which results will be exhibited at the Salon del Mobile in Milan in the Spring of 2019.

Salone del Mobile is the world’s is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world focusing on furniture and design in general. The fair largely exhibits commercial products from large design companies. However, there is also a part of the fair dedicated to experiments and showing of works and pieces produces by smaller institutions like schools.

The students of the fall semester 2018 kickstarted this process with the one-week course Object Makers, which was created in collaboration with RE F O R M.

During Object Makers the students worked in many different ways – and with various methods – with the materials twinwall plastic and round wooden sticks. The first assignment was to create 20 small models to investigate how these materials could be used, what their limitations and possibilities were. Thereafter, the 3D models were used as inspiration for a product in 2D like film, photograph, illustration etc. And in the last few days of the project, the students created the objects that are shown on the top of the page.

Below, Rasmus Bækkel Fex from RE F O R M is interviewed about the project and architecture student Ida Almati shows her one-man band made of twinwall plastic and wooden sticks.
