Designing Glowing Shapes

As part of the introductory week the students were given a one day brief on how the treatment of a material can guide shape. The students were asked to create a glowing shape from a soft white plastic. The guiding design tool for the shapes had to be a surface manipulation technique. Through a series of explorations the final work had to relate to one meter square. The techniques for manipulation where folding, smocking, darting, gathering, perforation, pleating and platting.
