The design class has spent a week making a chair from an already existing type of chair called “Sedia 1”. Sedia 1 is designet in 1973 by the Italian designer Enzo Mari, exemplifying the concept of “Autoprogettazione” - which may be be translated into “self-produced”. It is part of a movement, that holds a critical eye towards consumer culture and wishes to give the user the power to make – in this case – their own chair. As such these chairs become current examples of this model,  presenting them with great variety and personality.
