In Architecture, we have held the course Light x Wood together with guest lecturer Signe Lund. An intensive four-day programme in which the architecture students explored the relationship between light, materiality, and architecture.
The course began at Skive Church with an open, sensory observation of the light in the space—its movement, qualities, and interaction with surfaces. From there, the students developed a personal focal point through a collection of observations and a shared inspiration board, which formed the basis for their further investigations.
The students developed a “how might we” hypothesis about the relationship between light and architecture, which they explored through rapid prototypes in wood and paper. They worked with architecture as an inverted construction: where architecture cuts openings in a structure to let light in, the lamp builds a structure around the light source to control how the light is released.
