Material and contrast

In this week we worked on the contradiction between the compounded and the casted. Through physical models, we examinded two materials, wood and plaster, where each material characteristica strongly differs from each other. We made collections of wood and castings in plaster. We looked at the differense between these two material typologies. Wood forms spaces of additive joints while plaster obtains shape when filling the negative space.

In addition, we considered the concepts of hard versus soft and sharp versus rounded. Each cast should show an experiment that highligt the material possibilities.
