Michael Stickrod is a young but experienced artist who has shown his work internationally – in the US and in Europe. “Garden of the Gods” is his first solo exhibition in Denmark. The exhibition is all about layering. Litterally in a serias of photos showing images of stones from a book, casually pinned on the wall on top of layers of colored paper. Figuratively the layering seems to go for the whole installation. Layers of personal mementos you could say: family stuff, found objects, found images. They all seem to have a personal value to the artist and you get the feeling that they have gone through many cycles and layers of time. Overall you find elements from pop-art and modernism. And behind it all: a romantic dream of the Garden of the Gods.
