How to regulate virtual products, such as ChatGPT. With the advancement of artificial intelligence, our perception of what it means to be a consumer and what we see as a “product” is being challenged.
ChatGPT’s easy accessibility contributes to overconsumption, as the consumer is not held accountable for how much energy even simple searches cost.
The video will show a redesign of ChatGPT, where a built-in “climate wall” will help hold the consumer accountable, with tangible comparisons of how much energy searches use. In addition, it also creates a tension, as the consumer is forced to take a position and reassess whether they want to continue the search.
The video is therefore an attempt to put ChatGPT’s climate footprint into perspective, and hopefully get consumers to consider whether their search is actually that important - “think before you search, do you really need the answer…”
