In the Art class, we have worked with video art. Video art is an important medium that stands and vibrates as living counter-images within the stream of moving images in the world—both in public spaces and in the digital parallel world.
The videos that were created were meant to operate on two levels: whether through sound and image, image within image, or by presenting contrasting moods, sensations, and emotions.
The course has provided an art-historical perspective on how experimental film and video art have developed over time, and how, artistically, they encompass an incredible range of facets and ways of operating. Video art opens up new spaces and new ways of using the moving image: new narrative forms, as digital material, as fluid painting, or something entirely different.
Art has produced video works that each stand on their own and in their own right. Enjoy.
