Tableau Vivant

The art-class has worked with ‘Tableau vivant’, a term derived from French that translates to 'living picture.

In art history, we know ‘Tableau vivant’ as photographs documenting an expressive scene of actors often depicting a historical event.

Students worked with video, one-takes and silence to explore the genre of ‘Tableau Vivant’ and its static scenes with one or more actors. New interpretations of the genre emerged by pushing the genre’s original medium of photography and instead producing works in the medium of video.

The works were exhibited in Four Boxes.
