The students were introduced to painting. We started with watching some small films about different painters talking about their work and the students got some papers dealing with the practical matters of the proces: Composition, colours etc. They were advised to work with several different possibilities of painting but had the freedom of deciding themselves in what area to work. For most of the students, it was their first time painting seriously. Most of the students are used to work digitally with images so for them it’s very challenging and often also liberating to work in an analogue way with images. A proces in which you have to trust your intuition and the chances showing up in the proces. You might have to be less goal oriented compared to the work within the field of digital processes.
