As something new, we tried starting with drawing as one of the first tasks in Art.
Drawing is many things: it is traces, imprints, signatures, dreams, imagination, translating proportions, and much more that flows through the tools and materials one chooses to work with. It is 1:1. The eye senses, and the body remembers. It can be craftsmanship, but it is also about letting go of craftsmanship and being innovative by following the traces, will, and path of the material, subject, and tool on the surface of the paper.
Expressing oneself analogically on white paper is like standing alone in a room. Exploring drawing as an artistic medium and expression is interesting, and the central question is: How can analog, hands-on techniques still be developed, challenged, and justified in a time with many new digital tools?
There have been exercises, tasks, figure drawing, and individual work. Sketch forms and final works have been created using charcoal, charcoal chalk, pencil, colored pencil, and ink.
