What is a hobby? That was one of the many questions the students from the art department were confronted with this week. Sport, collections, miniature worlds such as model trains, doll houses etc are some of the more or less „normal“ things that come to mind, but what does a hobby actually say about a person? Why do we feel some hobbies are more uncanny, nerdy or – more generally speaking – make as doubt a persons psychological state of well-being? When does a hobby become an obsession=? Through a variety of media the students examined the meaning of hobbies. Sometimes based on own experience, sometimes on fictive scenarios they created works that invited a traditionally overlooked part of life into their artistic pratice.
