Preparing and carrying out a large celebration involves a significant share of the competencies used in the design discipline: What is the main idea? Who are the users? What kind of experience should they have? What is the context? Which materials do we have? How do we shape the surrounding space—its forms, colors, textures—and how do we build the flow of the event, etc. All of this the design students put into play over several days in April, working together to experiment with and transform the dining hall and the assembly hall into “The Meat Party.” Here they juggled the elements of the theme, such as The Grill, The Plate, The Spice Bar, The Freezer, The Boiler Room, and more. It was fun, crazy, offbeat—and everything in between. Thanks for the meal!
