Upon a request form the pianofestival ‘Pianodays’ students of design took part in a competition on how to upcycle earned pianos and turn them into poetic ornaments in the concert hall where the festival takes place, Koncertkirken at Blågårds Plads, Copenhagen.

Designer Kasper Kjeldgård, who favours the object of the mobile, worked with the students on the project.

The students designed a number of expressive mobiles, using only parts from the piano. Components being embellished brass pedals, fine felt-covered hammers, delicate strings as well as coarsely cut wooden panels etc. A true cornucopia of very specialised and particular components and forms to be balanced, visually as well as by weight.

The mobiles were presented in Koncertkirken during the festival 26th and 27th of March 2022
