The students of design have been casting light sculptures in paraffin wax.
The project is inspired by Nouveau-Realism and finds forms making casts of surfaces and objects found in everyday life. As in Nouveau-Realism the material is reality, which can be sculpted and transformed to create a new understanding of elements surrounding us.
The castings are made in colour-infused paraffin wax. The wax has a transparency that can be adjusted by the thickness of the material, producing a beautiful variety of light and colour intensity.
