Egg

In this project, the architecture students explored how an object—in this case, an egg—can be staged so that it appears significant and takes on a special role within a space. The project began with the students creating conceptual sketch models. They then built a 1:100 scale model of a structure designed to be mounted on a vertical MDF board. The task was to design a small building that could accommodate people while still allowing the egg to remain the focal point. At the same time, the structure had to be able to hang on a “cliff face.”

In the final phase, connections were created between the groups’ models. These were small, movable structures that linked the models across the installation. Overall, the project was an exploration of how models, structures, and contrasts can transform an ordinary object into something that appears important and carries a strong presence within a space.
