Architecture is often called the heaviest of the arts; it is so called because its materiality is so extensive that it takes a long time to build and a long time to decompose.
In this assignment, the students had to work with transformation – architectural interventions in a broad sense, changes of an existing situation. What characterizes transformation architecture is that there is “something there already” - concrete, physical remains that must be considered.
In cardboard and wooden sticks, the students were to develop a ruin into a new building. They had to work with addition, meaning they were not allowed to remove from the ruin but only add new material.
The building was to contain of an indoor living space and an outdoor garden space.
