The model as representation

The studie dominique+serena recently paid the architecture department at Krabbesholm a visit. Here they held the workshop ‘The model as representation’, where the students investigated the architectural models role as an architectural tool. The assignment had it‘s starting point in a common work, Aldo van Eyck’s “Hubertus Huis”, which is characterised by making a ‘grafting’ of spatial states: Transitions from public to private space, transitions from shared spaces to personal places – spaces in spaces of furniture and a series of architectural gestures, which require play and movement. The students investigated these rooms in 3-dimensional form via a series of models: Thus the models are both investigations of the the architectural piece, but also pieces themselves.
