Sometimes it is easier to define ones own artistic position by figuring out what one does not like: The starting point for these projects was to make a better version of an existing artwork. Why is it I don’t like it? Is it boring? Provoking? What is the absolute minimum I need to change, to be satisfied with the result? Sometimes questions like these help you figure out what you actually like and the results can in fact end up as an ode to the original.
