A Trip To Berlin

The trip went to Berlin with Visuel Kommunikation E25. Berlin is packed with graphic design and art, which is inevitably placed in the context of the city’s political and cultural history. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Node Berlin, Studio HanLi and The Bank. It was interesting to get an insight into graphic design as a practice – and see how studios differ from each other. It taught us about the thoughts that can lie behind a design, and how as a designer you transfer yourself into your work. In addition, we had nice and honest conversations about what it’s like to work with clients, and what a graphic designer’s salary can look like. Since it wasn’t on studio visits, we went on an inspiration tour of a number of Berlin’s renowned galleries and museums. Among them are CVAB, C/O Berlin, Hamburger Bahnhof, König Galerie and Neue National Galerie. We visit galleries and museums to put ourselves in the context of the time we find ourselves in. We practice asking questions, and reflect on what we see and feel. Thank you to a sweet and open team full of curious students. It was a pleasure to go on a study trip with the team.
