Ways of Seeing

“The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe.”

The words are John Bergers. The art department has been introduced to his 1972 TV series ‘Ways of Seeing’ and has discussed how we look at art, authenticity, the influence of the camera, and the importance of context for our perception of art.

Based on Krabbesholm’s Riddersalen, which was decorated in 1759 by O.C Wassman, and which represents art in its original context, the students has been asked to look at the paintings and make their own interpretations.
