The students at our Architecture program were given the task of rethinking what housing might look like in a future where we must share more and own less. Through the assignment, the students have drawn and developed proposals for urban houses where several people share functions and spaces, and where the living area per person is significantly reduced compared to the current Danish standard. Living more densely can be challenging in many ways, and the students have, among other things, explored the balance between the private and the communal – between the functional and the atmospheric.
The physical models, built at a 1:50 scale, focus on spatial organization, natural light, ceiling heights, openings, and furnishing. The models have been used throughout the process as active tools to shape and develop the project.
