This autumn, students from Architecture dive into exciting buildings and urban spaces in Cologne and Amsterdam.
In Cologne, the students experienced the iconic Kölner Dom followed by the Kolumba Museum. In continuation of a transformation assignment, work was also done with context analysis in the historic city center of Cologne.
A day trip to the Zeche Zollverein, a UNESCO site illustrating the Ruhr area’s transformation, also prompted reflection on our industrial heritage.
On the way to Amsterdam we visited Insel Hombroich on a particularly beautiful autumn day. Here the students were given room to immerse themselves in a magical amalgamation of art, architecture and landscape architecture.
Before arriving in Amsterdam, we visited the ground-breaking Schröderhus in Utrecht. In Amsterdam, the focus was predominantly on modern architecture with a visit to the Stedelijk Museum and a guided tour through the city’s innovative, sustainable residential areas built on artificial islands in Lake IJ.
