Everyday Life

Spring 2025

Annual meeting

Saturday offered a very special and inspiring annual general meeting, where we put Krabbesholm’s core values at the center. Lasse Andersson, director of Kunsten i Aalborg, became the new chairman of the board. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the school, where together with Lasse we will further develop our curatorial path and continue our radical art pedagogical approach.

The theme of the day was sound, and the common thread ran through both conversations and experiences. In the art gallery we showed John Cage’s work Imaginary Landscapes No.   from 1952 – kindly loaned by the Kunstens samling – in company with a sound artwork created by our students in collaboration with sound artist Andreas Stouby.

A great experience was the sensual Soundwalk, led by Alexander Holm and Frederik Heidemann, where we explored the familiar with new, foreign sounds in our ears. The day was aurally documented by the lovely Mathilde Schytz Marvit from Besyv.

The evening culminated in a dinner that would have brought a smile to Karen Blixen – a true Babette’s Feast, but with an extra layer of audibility: crispy crunches, bubbling dry ice, crackling, cracking, slurping and sizzling, created by our chef Helle Yding Hougaard.

We rounded off with an electronic concert by the musician Stormhat, who used site-specific sounds from Krabbesholm in his compositions.

The day became a living manifestation of the three pillars of our new core values: Creation, Spaces and Practice. We understand the creation of works as public acts and recognize that every action has political significance. It is our conviction that what we do now is more important than what we once were.
