Art is an important instrument in defining us as individuals and as human beings. This has been the case since initial human, aesthetic manipulation of the surroundings and till present time. Simple questions like “who am I?”, “what is the world?”, and “where and how do I meet the world?” are expressions of basic, human challenges and are therefore also crucial within art. Each person in each period of time must find his or her own answers to these questions.

Because of this, old techniques and mediums are just as relevant now as they were 100 years ago. One medium is by definition not better than the other. One day you can choose to work with portrait drawing and the next an installation with audio and video. Quality does not depend on the medium or the technique but solely on the intensity and the immersion.

As contemporary human beings we must understand and learn to accept, that the world around us is turning into a collage of fragments from history and from the global context in which we exist.
