How can practices of translation shape our relationship to each other? How can translation function as a process, a political act or a tool for understanding and what are its possibilities and implications? ‘The Promise and Compromise of Translation’ attempts to respond to these questions by investigating concepts of translation in artistic practice across the Nordic region.´

The Promise and Compromise of Translation er en gruppeudstilling, der samler seks nordiske kunstnere. Alle kunstnerne arbejder med oversættelse og udfolder forskellige perspektiver på oversættelsens implikationer og muligheder. The Promise and Compromise of Translation tilstræber at forstå, hvordan oversættelse kan forme vores forhold til hinanden og afspejle vores historier om diaspora og kulturel udveksling.

Gennem performance, installation, tekst og video undersøger kunstnerne – på tværs af kulturelle og sproglige grænser – forskellige metoder og praksisser både inden og uden for Norden.
