New exhibition – Unclaimed Luggage by Sofie Winther in Four Boxes Gallery at Krabbesholm. Opening on November 7th at 5pm

Four Boxes Gallery presents the exhibition Unclaimed Luggage by artist Sofie Winther. Unclaimed Luggage is a site-specific exhibition that transforms Four Boxes into a ‘home in disarray’. Through found objects, Winther examines the structures that define the space of the nuclear family – and the balances of power that play out between human and object, care and control, life and afterlife.

All materials are collected and processed on site, making the exhibition both an experiment and an insight into a working process where the context shapes the work. In a society characterized by welfare and abundance, where everything can be left behind and replaced, the discarded objects become evidence of both value and consumption systems.

As part of the exhibition, Winther invites his collaborator Charlie Boyte, who together with Winther forms the design duo Crude, to create deconstructed sofas. Crude works exclusively with recycled materials and explores through intuitive, almost surgical processes how objects can be reborn in new forms.

Unclaimed Luggage continues Winther’s investigation of the structures that define value, ownership and relationships in the modern Western home – and of the stories that are hidden in what is left behind.

Sofie Winther (b. 1991) is an interdisciplinary artist working with sculpture, performance and video. Her practice explores how structures such as kinship, work and power are shaped and internalized in everyday life.

Four Boxes Gallery is an exhibition space at Krabbesholm Højskole.
