Conceptual Type Workshop

The students were assigned to pick their favorite piece of clothing, and describe the aesthetic characteristics they found appealing about it, with five words. From here they were to sketch and digitalize a conceptual alphabet, based on a visual expression and a set of rules, inspired by these five words.
During the week, the students were introduced to basic morphology, sketching techniques, type classification and type design. Towards the end of the workshop, they were told to name their alphabet. They were also assigned to design a "hangtag" with a typographic logo presenting the name of the alphabet. This hangtag would appear together with the piece of clothing by the final presentation.

Guest Teachers: Amanda-Li Kollberg and Siri Søgaard Lindskrog
