A-Z

The English alphabet has 26 letters but 1picture can say more than 1000 words. During the week we will work freely with words and images from a collection of dictionaries. The goal is to generate content to be compiled into our own dictionary by the end of the week. This was how the assignment was presented i the one week workshop with Gudmundur Ulfarsson og Mads Freud Brunse.
Throughout the week book pages were produced in order to be able to finish up the workshop in Copenhagen at officin with Louise Sidenius. Here we had the opportunity to produce 40 handmade books from scratch. The books are printed on a Risograph - a blend of a copier and an offset printer. They are folded, stitched, glued and cut during three long workdays.
Working with a dictionary draws the attention towards letters, words and meaning. Basic elements of ideas and imagination. A book freeze a particular content with a beginning and an end. Working with the book media in the form of a handmade production reminds you of the fact that this too is a physical reality.
